My name is Gough Whitlam and I represent ‘Young and free’ because I was prime
minister from 1972 to 1975 and became the first Labor prime minister for 23 years. I will
long be remembered in Australian history as the prime minister whose government was
‘sacked’ by the Governor-General, Sir John Kerr, on Remembrance Day 1975.
