My name is Muriel Chase and I represent Australians All because when I was
writing a Childrens Corner in a Western Australian newspaper under the
name Aunt Mary I encouraged my young readers to become silver
links in a chain of service. We all worked to raise funds for social welfare
services, and by 1904 we had raised enough money to appoint a district nurse to make home
visits. Today the state-wide organisation that my Childrens Corner
readers helped to start is known as the Silver Chain District Nursing Association.
