My name is Mandawuy Yunupingu and I represent ‘Nature’s gifts’ because I
am the lead singer of the band Yothu Yindi. My song ‘Treaty’, which is on our
second album Tribal Voice (1991), won the Human Rights Commission Award. In 1992 I
was chosen as Australian of the Year and I represented Australia at the launch of the
United Nations International Year for Indigenous Populations.
