My name is Hubert Opperman, but I am better known as ‘Oppy’. I represent
‘Nature’s gifts’ because I dominated road cycling races in Australia and
Europe between 1924 and 1931, setting many world records. My 1937 Perth-to-Sydney ride,
which took 13 days, 10 hours and 11 minutes, stood as a record for 30 years.
