My name is Oodgeroo Noonucal, but I am also known as Kath Walker. I represent
‘Nature’s gifts’ because
I am a poet and, as the secretary of the Federal Council for the Advancement of
Aboriginals and Torres Strait Islanders from 1960, I helped towards securing the vote and
constitutional recognition for all Aboriginal people at the 1967 referendum. I also taught
Aboriginal lore to both black and white children on my island home.
