My name is Albert Namatjira and I represent ‘Nature’s gifts’ because my
mastery of watercolour painting in the 1930s led to my becoming a well-known painter of
the Australian outback landscape. My distinctive paintings, which reflected a European
style, nevertheless made me one of the first Indigenous Australians to become a
commercially successful artist.
