born on 13 September 1931 at Coffs Harbour in New South Wales
My name is Marjorie Jackson and I represent Natures gifts because at
the Helsinki Olympics in 1952 I became the first Australian woman ever to win Olympic
gold, winning both the 100m (in equal world record time) and the 200m races. At the
Helsinki Olympics they nicknamed me The Lithgow Flash because although I was
born in Coffs Harbour I grew up in Lithgow.
