1845-1906
wheat breeder
born on 3 April 1845 at Docker, Westmoreland in England; migrated to Australia at age
25.
My name is William Farrer and I represent Golden soil, wealth for toil
because through my experimentation with many wheat types, I came up with the
Federation variety of wheat. It was strong and well suited to Australias
harsher wheat-growing conditions.
IDEA
FOR SCENE: Show William Farrer in one of his fields holding a few stalks of
Federation wheat and explaining to another farmer why this type of wheat he
has created is so much better than other kinds.
