My name is George Falkiner and I represent ‘Golden soil, wealth for toil’
because of my contribution to the Australian wool industry. I took over the family sheep
property, Haddon Rig, in 1929 and turned it into the most famous medium-strong wool merino
stud in the world. I also donated a lot of money towards wool research and promotion, and
argued that Australian wool should be marketed abroad under a distinctive trade name.
