because I was one of the people who founded the firm Connor, Doherty and Durack Ltd which,
in the early years of the twentieth century, controlled cattle properties totalling nearly
15,500 square kilometres on the Western Australian/Northern Territory border. In 1917 I
entered state parliament as the member for Kimberley in the Legislative Assembly.
