My name is Wilmot Fysh and I represent ‘Advance Australia’ because along with
a fellow pilot, Pat McGINNESS, and Queensland graziers, Fergus McMASTER, Ainslie TEMPLETON
and Alan CAMPBELL, I formed the Queensland and Northern Territory Aerial Services Ltd
(QANTAS) in 1920.
IDEA
FOR SCENE: In 1933 Fysh is surveying the route for an airmail service between England and
Australia. He is on a plane, looking out a small window, and furiously taking notes and
recording measurements on a clipboard. Suddenly Smithy appears on the wing. When Smithy
enters the door of the plane (offstage) time freezes for everyone except Fysh, and Smithy
convinces him to help save Australia.
